Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Personalang for using our website and service. By creating an account or talking to Lucia, you agree to them. Please read them.

1. Who can use Personalang

You must be at least 17 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. If you use Personalang on behalf of an organization, you confirm you’re authorized to accept these terms for it.

2. The service

Personalang is a voice-based language-practice companion. “Lucia” is an AI persona, not a human and not a certified teacher. She’s designed to help you practice and build confidence speaking — she is not a substitute for professional instruction, translation, or advice, and you shouldn’t rely on her output for important decisions.

3. Your account

• Provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure.
• You’re responsible for activity under your account.
• Tell us promptly at support@personalang.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Acceptable use

Please don’t:

• Use the service for anything illegal, harmful, or abusive.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service or its systems.
• Share your account, resell access, or scrape or extract the service in bulk.
• Misuse the service in ways that infringe others’ rights or violate applicable law.

5. Plans, limits, and payment

Personalang offers free and paid plans. The current prices and daily pacing limits are described on our pricing page and form part of these terms. Each live conversation lasts up to 15 minutes. The free plan currently includes one session per day for the first seven days and one session per week afterward. Paid plans also include a monthly usage allowance, displayed as a percentage meter in the app. Shorter conversations consume less of that allowance than full-length conversations. Reaching either a daily pacing limit or the monthly usage allowance prevents a new session from starting until the relevant period resets.

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, where available; unless stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable except where required by law. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We may change plans, features, prices, or usage limits and will give existing subscribers reasonable notice of material changes.

6. Your content and our content

You keep ownership of what you say to Lucia. You grant us the limited license needed to process and store your conversations to operate the service and power Lucia’s memory, as described in our Privacy Policy. Personalang, including its software, design, and brand, belongs to us; these terms don’t give you rights to it beyond using the service.

To keep conversations continuous, Lucia remembers things you share and may gently bring up a topic from a past conversation when you return. This is on by default; you can turn it off in Settings, and view or delete what Lucia remembers, at any time.

7. AI output disclaimer

Lucia’s responses are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate at times. We work hard to make her helpful and safe, but we don’t guarantee correctness. Use good judgment, especially for anything consequential.

8. Termination

You can stop using Personalang and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or to protect the service and its users. You can request deletion of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Personalang and its providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the service — including any unauthorized access to, or alteration of, your data that may occur despite our reasonable security measures. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law — including rights you may have as a consumer.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We’ll post the updated version here and revise the date above. By creating an account or otherwise using Personalang, you accept these terms — and your continued use after any update means you accept the revised version.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you are a consumer, you continue to benefit from any mandatory protections of the country in which you live, and nothing in these terms overrides those rights.
